When you see Marc at the Club, please introduce yourself. He is keen to meet people in his new home and get to know the parents and sailors in the Optimist fleet.
Marc will join our Sailing School and Coaching team alongside Leon Wilson, Archie Cropley, Graham Biehl (our Member Services Manager and 2 x Olympic 470 Sailor), and Dan Smith (our Club Sailing Manager and 5 x Olympic 470 Coach, and World Youth Championship Coach), and others in developing our Junior and Youth programmes.
Marc is well known across the International Optimist Dinghy community and has won major international regattas including Eurocup in 29ers. He is widely regarded in his home country of Spain for having a unique ability to help talented children progress from absolute beginner to a highly competitive level. He regularly coaches at international events with representative sailors. This includes World Championships, European Champs, Asian & Oceania's Champs, and more.
Marc joins us after a number of years coaching at various Clubs in Spain and at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club. His athletes qualified up to five times to ISAF Youth Worlds and he has trained junior sailors to National titles on many occasions in four separate classes. Marc's skills range from Sports Science through Sailing Management and International Business.
With Marc joining our team we will continue to have the best Learn to Sail, Junior and Youth coaching team in Australia. We are building new programmes for this spring and summer. We will be offering a complete package including Club Membership, storage, coaching, regatta support, sailing gear and more. The Club now has a great coaching team, and we are always developing new advanced sailing programmes. If you are after the best training in Sydney, Woollahra Sailing Club is your destination. The Club is making significant investments in new infrastructure, and fleet and yard maintenance. Heading the list is our new launching ramp opened in 2019 will and providing the number one dinghy launching facility in Sydney with immediate access to Rose Bay and Sydney Harbour dinghy sailing utopia. We also have a fleet of 12 near new ribs and have submitted a pre-development application for a new storage facility that will result in both more storage and more rigging space.
