About our teens learn to sail programs

OutThere Sailing is the perfect way to try out sailing and have fun on the water. OutThere Sailing also makes use of our stand up paddle boards, kayaks and powerboats to keep the program fun and safe in all conditions. The program is created for 12-17 year old's who are interested in trying out sailing in a non-competitive, social and fun setting. OutThere Sailing encourages teenagers to learn new skills and spend time with friends in a new and exciting environment. The Club uses a wide variety of boats including Dinghies, Stand Up Paddle Boards, Windsurfers and Power boat adventures during our programs. All OutThere Sailing programs are delivered by qualified Australian Sailing Instructors.

OutThere Sailing will give teenagers the flexibility & variety they want in a fun focused setting, whilst still providing them with important life skills. The key aspect of this program is to facilitate a social environment where teenagers are able to cultivate real friendships with other's from their local area, whilst potentially igniting a love for sailing in the process. Socialisation and fun both on and off the water are paramount; club culture is inclusive of everyone and there is plenty for parents and teenagers to get involved with.

Some ability to swim is preferable, however they will be wearing lifejackets at all times.

Our teen learn to sail pathway:

  • OutThere Sailing - We run OutThere Sailing levels 1,2 & 3 combined so that sailors can develop their skills as a group and grow at their own rates. Sailors are welcome to stay in OutThere Sailing as long as they would like to enjoy the recreational environment.
  • Race Skills Squad - For sailors who are finishing the OutThere Sailing competencies we have a race skills squad on Sunday afternoon which teaches Start Racing and Better Racing skills.
  • Development and Performance Squads - Sailors who are looking to advance and compete at state an national level are able to join our performance pathway programs.
  • Club racing - After solidifying skills in the race skills squad sailors are welcome to buy their own boat or use a club boat to compete in our club racing whenever they would like to.
