September Update

Published 11:00 on 31 Aug 2023

Your Club needs you !
Sunday 10 September is "Clean Up Your Club" Day (well for an hour or so) We are hosting a busy bee to tidy up our club. We would love as many hands as possible to help us with some painting and patching, cleaning and tidying to get our Club ready for the summer ahead. Please spare some time on Sun 10 September from 10am - 12pm. Please come and join us. Donate 30 minutes to 2 hours of your time. We aim to make it fun and purposeful!

Sign up to help with the clean-up.

We also have our "Discover Sailing Day" on Saturday 7 October with over 200 registered visitors set to attend our club. We would love the help and support of our members, from helping clear the yard on the day, to coming down on the day and rigging up your vessel. Bring your family down and take them sailing - there are many ways you can be involved at this event. We help train our volunteers. There are plenty of opportunities for our members to upskill and complete first aid training, powerboat licence courses, learn mark laying and more. Our calendar shows our next available training days. Come and join us

WSC is excited to host our WSC She Sails 2023, in conjunction with NSW IODA OptiChicks. This event is open to all sailors keeping a strong focus on keeping girls and women involved in sailing.

Sign up for our She Sails/Opti Chicks event on 23 and 24 September. Supporting women in the sport of sailing, this weekend will have guest speakers, opportunities to meet other female sailors, opportunities to take your friends and family members sailing, try out another vessel and more.

420 World Championships in Alacente Spain

WSC was represented by 3 boats - in the Womens fleet, Hanako Tomishima / Grace Morrow; and in the U17 Fleet, Martin Leibhold / Elia Sellers and Goro Tomishima / Luca Alexander. With 277 boats from 20 countries, split across 3 fleets (Open, Womens, U17), it was a huge learning experience for all the teams - from the scale of competition, to dealing with the unusual sailing conditions of that part of the Mediterranean, to coping in the European heat wave. WSC proudly hosting the NSW 420 State titles 23/24 September.

Half of the car park (behind the tennis courts) will be closed for the Red Cross Clothing Drive Thursday 14 September through to Sunday 17 September.
